Lehmann on Loss
To lose from a winning position is becoming a dangerous habit for the Deccan Chargers. For the second time in three games, they let the opponents off the hook. With three matches still to play of which two are against combinations that have not done themselves proud Chargers are still favoured to reach the knockout stage of the tournament. But nothing can be taken for granted from here and they have only their poor finishing to blame for the position they are in at the moment.
Coach Darren Lehmann put up a brave front after the narrow loss to Delhi Daredevils at the Kingsmead on Wednesday. Lehmann stressed the importance to regroup quickly. “I cannot think much about this loss. It was a bit unfortunate but the reason for the defeat is simple. We lost seven wickets for just 12 runs and that did us in.” said Lehmann.
Delhi had given up even the faintest of hopes when 29 was required off four overs. Virender Sehwag turning to a part time bowler did the trick. “I think we are to blame. We played ourselves to get into the game and that is really good. But we didn’t bowl or field as well as we should have. They went on to score 173 and then we batted really well to get into a good position. We should have won the game. It is unfortunate that we lost it,” added Lehmann.
The failure from the batsmen to score boundaries cost the team badly. Adam Gilchrist had made the job easy for the middle order with a fantastic innings but the rest barring Andrew Symonds failed to capitalise. “He is a class player and we have seen some pretty good batting from him. I have played along with him and he certainly amazes me as a cricketer. He is still fit and knows what he is doing when he is out there and who he is playing against. I am happy for him,” said Lehmann who would have liked the innings of Gilchrist to be a match winning effort.
The team regrouped well against Rajasthan after a close loss. It could be a difficult job for the team to keep springing back consistently. “I will wait for them to calm down a little bit. Look this is what the game is all about. We lost a game which we should have won. And we need to get ready for the next one. The team should not worry about what has happened,” explained Lehmann.
It could be another edition where he semi-finalists are decided on the last day of the league. But if Chargers have to avoid that they have to win the next two games. They certainly have the personnel to do it and will have to address a few areas quickly. “We have lost two matches like this. The other day while bowling and today while chasing. I wouldn’t say that it is a concern but we certainly have to find a solution,” added Lehmann.

Excellent performances guys....with the way gilly is going , i dont think we need to hamper much with the batting line up...also gibbs, is i think a far safer bet compared to smith (inspite of his awesome fireworks)....harris seems to be a very useful cricketer...and we should forget vaas now....i think harris is the answer to the problems of the death overs....if only RP wasnt penalised by the umpire....we would have won the KKR match comfortably...but pleeeeasee....harmeet singh does NOT deserve a place in the squad...we have enough problems with one non-performing player in the side(VENU). and i'm sure there are some local guys who can bowl at 130 to 135 atleast....they have to be a better option even if they go awry at times in line and length as they only have to play a support role....
anyways...you guys ROCK..!! the KXIP team s gonna have to face a stampede of charging bulls...!! GO CHAAARGERS..!!

considering the team's performance in the previous match mainly the performance of our domestic players, a CHANCE must be given to either BILAKHIA or LAXMAN.. the best person to be replaced would be either V.RAO or SHOAIB...
they deserve this....

Hi gilly,
Whatever you have done is very well appriciated by your loyal fans like me. What happened yesterday was indeed a very sad moment. You have all the players to blame but yourself dropping 4 catches of worldclass players and then batting so poorly not making up for the mistakes done is just unacceptable.
having said all a small suggestion you have lot of bowling options use them all to confuse the batters and also if a bowler is in good nick bowl him out dont hold him back after 2 overs spell plzzz.

Great job Coach till now...Pls give local boys little piece of your mind. I understand you don't have many options to choose other than this lot.
All the best.

Dear Gilchrist,
I wouldnt call myself the greatest DC fan but yes I am a very loyal DC fan and have been following each match right from seaso
n 1 of IPL. This year our performance has been good. Losing to Delhi yesterday was indeed a very sad moment. Our players parti
cularly the lower order crumpled under pressure ( created on their own ). The fielding was also not upto the standard owing to
the dropped catches which did cost us the match.
However I am sure we will make it to the semis. We need to win the rest of our matches and I am sure we will. Play to your pla
n and please have a contingency plan as well so that team will be prepared.
My best wishes for you all.
I will be cheering you back home in Hyderabad.
Go Team Hyderabad Go !
Cheers,
Vishu
