When I met this young player from Punjab, his light coloured but intense eyes caught my attention. He said, I am Sunny Sohal maa'm and after exchanging pleasantries, he sat down to have a brief chat with me which I said would go up on the Deccan Chargers website for its fans.
Sunny and his other team mates, Harmeet Singh Bansal and Manpreet Gony play for the Punjab Cricket Association. Sunny was very excited about being part of Deccan Chargers for IPL Season 4 after having played for Kings XI Punjab in the previous editions of IPL. He was highly appreciative of the Deccan Chargers management and Coach Lehmann . He said it was for the first time he was meeting such a great coach who was very supportive and encouraging. He felt like he was with the family.
When I asked him about the so called ' Rajiv Gandhi Int'l Cricket Stadium jinx' he said, " this ground is lucky for me, I scored 98 not out during the Ranji Trophy match against Hyderabad and I am positive that I will repeat such good performance".
Sunny displayed immense confidence when he said " We want to win all home matches and break the jinx". Like any other youngster, he is fun loving and witty with his remarks.
I am sure we will get to see some swashbuckling innings from this Punjab ka puttar!
