IPL champion Deccan Chargers got into their stride in style, beating Chennai Super Kings by 31 runs, 190-4 to 159-9.
The top stars came good as Chargers tightened up their show after their sloppy finish against Kolkata Knight Riders in Mumbai. Gilchrist hit 38 to take his IPL tally past 1,000 runs, the first one to cross the mark. Gibbs struck 45 off 36 and Symonds 50 off 43.
Then Man of the Match Chaminda Vaas took 3/21, Pragyan Ojha 2/28 and Symonds 2/29. Vaas said that recreating the magic of 2009 was topmost on the Chargers’ minds.
Chargers next play Kings XI Punjab at Cuttack on Friday. Lots of time to finetune their champion strategy.
