I do not think Gilly should
I do not think Gilly should lead the team. For all his life he had been no.2 and not no.1. Good for advising but not for Captain. His knowledge of sub-continent pitches and ideal game plan for T20 is all he lacks. Afridi is playing T20 for last more than 10 years in Karachi. Yes T20 matches were being played in Pakistan since end of 70's and not now. He probably played T20 first and then ODIs. Secondly specially Afridi is being under utilised as bowler. Because Gilly does not know how to use spinners in this form of cricket. They should bowl their overs in one go. Batting order should be Afridi, Gilly, Gibbs, Rohit Sharma and Styris. Then in order of batting prowess. There is no need of left arm spinner if you have an off spinner. Bangar should be replaced by some younger player who can bowl faster than him to share new ball or as third seamer.

Gilly is not imaginative in
Gilly is not imaginative in his field placing because he does not know how to use spinners in this form of Cricket on sub-continent pitches. Laxman does not qualify as T20 player. That leaves Afridi who captained Karachi in T20 and reached finals which they could not win as he had left for Hajj in 2006. Afridi is hardly 27 and has played about 300 ODIs (More than 250 for definite) with strike rate of more than 105 and has hit more 6s than Jaysuriya who has played 100 more ODIs than him. He was named Player of the Tournament in first T20 World Cup recently. His team reached finals and missed championship with a whisker.

I feel Laxman is a very good
I feel Laxman is a very good captain. It is true he made few blunders in this tournament as captain, mainly trusting Symonds capabilities as a bowler in crucial situations. But over all his bowling changes and keeping the situations under his control, he has shown his maturity as a captain.
If you measure his performance as captain based on the team's losses in this IPL, then we have to remember one thing, a captain is only as good as a team.
The main reason for Deccan's failure are, except for Rohit Sharma, VVS and couple of knocks from Gilly, none of the top order batsman clicked to their potential. The bowlers of Deccan does not seems to have the talent to bowl the opponent out.
Infact i have seen the most unmotivated Deccan team on field was against Rajasthan Royals on May 8th under Gilly's captaincy.
Laxman knows these conditions and the players better than Gilly. Please dont downgrade our own talent.

At the time of maturing as a captain laxman got injured and he stepped down as captain in other way he sacrifice his place for team sake , infact he has done this 2 times 1) by rejecting icon status to get good players 2) by not playing crucial matches and giving chances to other players hoping they may perform better than him.But over all his bowling changes and keeping the situations under his control is perfect compare to gilly.The bowlers of Deccan does not seems to have the talent to bowl the opponent out.They have the talent but proper planning and motivation is missing.And moreover laxman knows these conditions and about players better than Gilly.Coming to Afridi only god knows when he hits, that is only 1 day out of 100.He needs to use his brain while hitting the ball, no doubt he is good bowler but not at all a good hitter.It's surprise that Gibbs is not at his best.Sad 2 say D.C. is strong on paper but not so strong on ground.

there is nothing bad in making gilly as captain. laxman as a captain is good but gilly is more experienced as a captain,in the last match against csk gilly made a innovative feild setting which pressurised csk's left hand batsman,even cskcould score only 58 runs between 11-19 over.These all shows the exelence of giilys captainship

We are not playing TEST cricket and in T20 only the strike rate matters. 32 runs of 30 balls will not win you a match. 20 runs from 6 balls (afridi) won the match

In test matches i would like to have eleven laxmans in my team...can take him in onedays too....but T20!!!!..man thats not cricket at all ....ICC should have comeup with a name like T20 slogging!!!......we need butchers like sehwag and not classy players like laxman.Slogging doesn't come to him easy, and he is trying hard with ones and twos..but i guess T20 is all about fours and sixes.

I dont know if DC checks this but wat happened y'day clearly shows that Gilly is a better captain than gilchrist. Laxman is good, but wat we need in this tournament is agression with the right strategy. The squad we have should be utilized in a right way and who else but Gilly can do it.

With LAXMAN the problem is even if he scores 48(37). what he misses is he leaves and scores 1 or 2 on the balls where a boundary can be scored easily in first 6 overs. His that attitude leaves the ending bats in great dilemma so the whole team struggle to reach 160-180 which has potential to score 200+.
NO doubt laxman world class player but He is not FIT AT ALL for 20-20. Just like NADAL in tennis can do history in Clay court while in grass court he fails. SO LAXMAN RELAX AND WATCH YOUR TEAM WIN SITTING IN DRESSING ROOM.

It makes no difference in my opinion since its how the team comes together in the match. Plus we did lose 2 matches with 1 ball the first was against the rajasthan royals when warne hammered for 6s & the banglore match where we couldnt get a 6 so seal the win & the kolkatta game was in our hands a bit but we lost & got owned in the delhi game.
I dont mind if it means we will win more matches though lol but laxman has done a good job so far.
